Overview
The Department of Biomedical Sciences at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine – Georgia Campus is seeking a qualified individual for an open‑rank faculty position in Pathology. The faculty member will educate osteopathic medical students, engage in scholarly activity related to medical education, and contribute to the college’s mission of advancing knowledge, intellectual growth, and community leadership.
There is no expectation of hospital activity or clinical laboratory responsibilities in this role.
Responsibilities- Teaching (70%)
Teach broadly in the areas of Pathology/Pathophysiology and educate medical students across a two‑year preclinical curriculum. Collaborate with basic and clinical science educators to coordinate horizontal and vertical integration of pathology within organ/system‑based courses. Prepare learning objectives, lecture materials, and assessment questions. Provide remediation experiences when needed, mentor and advise students, and facilitate clinical case presentations. Support technological platforms that link course content, activities, and assessments.
The position may include responsibilities as Course Director. - Service (15%)
Participate in administrative duties, including service on institutional and departmental committees, as negotiated and assigned. - Scholarly Activity / Research (15%)
Engage in scholarly activities related to medical education. Engagement is encouraged but not required.
- Three (3) years of teaching experience, preferably in medical education.
- Experience teaching Pathology/Pathophysiology is required.
- Experience with active learning and a collaborative approach to education is preferred.
- A terminal degree in Pathology or Pathophysiology (e.g., DO, MD, or PhD) is required.
- Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States and pass a criminal background check.
- Position is exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act.
Compensation will be commensurate with the candidate’s experience, education, and the responsibilities of the role. The referenced salary range is based on PCOM’s good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education, and skill level.
