The Production Planner is responsible for planning and managing production schedules to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of production operations by developing and managing production schedules, coordinating with various departments, and optimizing resource allocation. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of manufacturing processes, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to adapt to changing priorities. This position requires the ability to manage inventory levels and internal shipping needs for Murrelektronik customers.

  • Plans and manages productions schedules to meet customer delivery requirements and best utilize the company’s production capacity.
  • Perform capacity planning by analyzing the demand and supply balance for the scheduled materials, determining out of balance conditions, identifying alternatives, and recommending actions for bringing the plan into balance
  • Manages inventory levels, schedules and availability of selected item, either manufactured or purchased, to meet production schedules. Completes shipping information and delivery date input during sale order reviews.
  • Respond to request from sales for modification of orders including expedites and cancellations.
  • Receives and reviews sales orders against current requirements and work in process using the material requirement planning report.

  • Releases purchase orders for production material
  • Engage with production personnel, the purchasing department and supervisors on material status and production planning issues.
  • Analyze and place orders with vendors for special projects.
  • Serve as primary liaison between Murrelektronik Leadership team, Customer Service, Warehouse, Sales, Production (and other functions as necessary) to communicate planned production schedule, issues in production, anticipated late customer shipments, etc.
  • Conduct root cause analysis to expedite the resolution of service issues and causes of variations in performance.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance production efficiency and reduce costs.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Previous experience working in a fast-paced environment with emphasis on timelines and delivery.
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office products and SAP or equivalent ERP system.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals, resolve problems; ability to undertake self-directed tasks when necessary.
  • Ability to anticipate, understand and respond to the needs of the customer to meet or exceed expectations.
  • Familiarity with quality control standards and practices.
  • Knowledge of inventory management principles and techniques.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good organizational and analytical skills in order to manage a variety of different tasks simultaneously.

This job operates in a production office environment. The employee is occasionally exposed to shop elements such as noise, dust, fumes and odors. This position will require the use of personal protective equipment in the production area. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm.

Travel

The position requires less than 5% travel. Travel is usually outside of the local area and overnight. Travel is both domestic and international.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, or related field
  • Experience with SAP is preferred
  • Minimum of two years of related experience in production planning, supply chain, or inventory management.
  • Must have excellent time management skills and be able to handle multiple tasks.
