What You'll Do- Develop relationships with key vendors in assigned markets
- Establish or improve relationships with customers to better understand sales territory and customer needs through primary customer visits, phone calls, and emails
- Visit customers on a regular basis
- Compile lists of prospective customers for use as sales leads, based on information from newspapers, business directories, industry ads, trade shows, Internet web sites, and other sources
- Travel throughout assigned territory to call on regular and prospective customers to solicit orders or talk with customers on sales floor or by phone
- Display order demonstrations using samples or catalog, emphasizing saleable features
- Provide quotations or estimates of prices, terms, delivery, credit terms, and prepare sales contracts for orders obtained
- Estimate delivery date to customer based on knowledge of own firm’s production and delivery schedules
- Promote key vendor products through joint sales calls and promotions
- Attend trade shows
- Investigate and resolve customer problems with deliveries
- Process orders from customers in sales, using all required company policies, procedures and systems
- Prepare reports of business transactions and keep expense accounts
- Work with inside sales representatives and local management to keep account activities and literature up to date
- Track stock levels
- Coordinate customer training
- Enter new customer data and other sales data for current customers into computer database
Education and/or
Experience:
- High school diploma
- Previous sales experience required
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
- Bachelor's degree is highly desired but not a requirement
Requirements:
- Industry experience – lighting and gear is our preferred experience
- A self-starter with the ability to work independently and with little supervision
- High energy individual with the ability to work with a wide range of personalities
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced changing environment and to approach challenges with creativity and resourcefulness
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Initiative and self-direction; can apply knowledge and make sound judgment to effectively resolve issues
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to establish strong working relationships with co-workers and management
