Overview
The Person al Banker I role is a frontline Retail Consumer Banking position focused on using a consultative sales approach to meet customer and prospective needs. Candidates complete a 4‑8 week onboarding and education program that includes rotations in operations and Sales & Service, culminating in certification that demonstrates readiness to perform the Retail Personal Banker job family.
Responsibilities- Use the consultative sales process and Financial Needs Assessment to build comprehensive customer profiles and identify current and future financial needs.
- Maintain in‑depth knowledge of Retail consumer and small business products and solutions and recommend appropriate strategies using the bank’s value proposition.
- Utilize approved marketing tools to proactively reach out to customers and set appointments for periodic financial reviews.
- Focus on cross‑selling to the existing customer base and engage in outside sales activities such as membership presentations, business sales calls, and community financial literacy events.
- Establish close working relationships with assigned Business Partners (Mortgage, Small Business, Commercial and Investment) and refer customers when appropriate to provide timely, holistic financial solutions.
- Consistently meet or exceed customer experience and individual/team production goals and enhance year‑over‑year revenue growth as measured by the Financial Center P&L.
- Provide guidance to CSRs with respect to the sales and referral process.
- Adhere to established policies and procedures while opening and servicing the full range of retail products, including consumer loan and bankcard processes.
- Maintain a position of trust and responsibility by keeping all business confidential and following the Bancorp Code of Business Conduct and Ethics.
- Participate in the opening/closing process of the Financial Center or Bank Mart as directed by the Financial Center Manager.
- College degree or equivalent work experience providing transferable skills; or a combination of education and experience.
- Experience in the financial industry preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to develop a comfort level with sales activities aimed at acquiring new household and small business customers and cross‑selling to established customers.
- Proficiency in advanced math functions for credit and financial information analysis.
- Professional appearance and strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Understanding of retail policies and procedures to utilize good judgment in decision making.
- Required S.A.F.E. Act registration at the time of employment through the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS).
- Ability to travel within the affiliate for training and classroom sessions as required.
