Assistant Principal
Education and experience:
Master's degree or higher with a major in school administration and supervision or educational leadership. Hold L5 or higher with a clear renewable Georgia leadership certificate in school administration and supervision or educational leadership (building level). At least three years of successful teaching experience.
Certificates, licenses, permits:
Valid professional standards commission approved certificate in administration and supervision.

Performance functions:
Demonstrates the ability to support instruction in a standards-based environment by helping collaborative efforts to prioritize curriculum, develop aligned assessments, and plan instruction to improve student achievement. Assist teams in analyzing multiple sources of data to identify improvement needs, symptoms, and root causes. Identify and map core processes and results to create action plans designed to improve student achievement. Strategically plan, organize, measure, monitor, and manage school systems and processes necessary to improve student achievement.
Identify and develop relationships among customer and stakeholder groups and communicate school goals and priorities focused on student learning. Apply proven, systematic processes for improvement through analyzing human performance; planning for improvements; and designing, developing, and supporting implementation of solutions to close performance gaps. Help individuals make full use of their strengths toward personal and organizational goals, working to create a collaborative teaching and learning organization which develops leaders at all levels.
Effectively and efficiently organize resources, processes, and systems to support teaching and learning. Support change in a collegial environment focused on continuous improvement in student achievement.
Specific responsibilities:
Assist the principal in the overall administration of the school. Serves as acting principal in the absence of the regular principal. Aids in the scheduling of classes and extracurricular activities. Requisition s, receipts, and accounts for supplies, textbooks, and equipment. Cooperates in the conduction of safety inspections and safety drill practice activities. Assumes responsibility for coordinating transportation, custodial, cafeteria, and other support services as designated by the principal.
Supervises the reporting and monitoring of student attendance, works with attendance supervisor for investigative follow-up actions. Assists in maintaining discipline throughout the student body and deals with special cases as necessary. Supports and attends special events held to recognize student achievement, school-sponsored activities, and athletic events. Performs such record-keeping functions as the principal may direct. Provides evidence of professional conduct with direct reports, colleagues, central office, parents, and students, including demonstrating timeliness in daily correspondence and forms.
Supports professional growth for all staff. Assists in pyramid of intervention and student support services coordination. Assists in the administration of standardized tests in the school. Assists teachers with implementation of the state curriculum. Serves on various county-wide committees as directed by the principal, and/or requested by the central office. Leads in such a manner as to ensure an atmosphere of teamwork, mutual respect, and involvement, promoting an atmosphere of high expectations for the school staff and student body.
