Position Overview

Swampscott Public Schools is seeking a highly skilled, collaborative, and dedicated Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to join our student services team at the elementary level. The primary role includes providing behavioral support, conducting comprehensive clinical assessments, and designing evidence‑based interventions to foster an inclusive learning environment for both general and special education students. Punctuality and reliable attendance are essential.

Essential Functions Behavioral Assessment & Intervention Design
  • Clinical Assessments: Conduct thorough Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBA) and design comprehensive, evidence‑based Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP).
  • Data Systems: Create, implement, and manage objective data‑collection procedures to track interventions, and regularly graph and analyze data to adjust plans.
  • Fidelity & Accountability: Conduct regular observations and integrity checks to ensure accurate implementation of behavioral intervention plans.
IEP Compliance & Team Collaboration
  • IEP Development: Review and edit Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals for behavioral needs, ensuring compliance and clinical fidelity.
  • Case Management Support: Write comprehensive IEP progress reports, update performance data, develop measurable goals and benchmarks, author annual behavioral summaries, and participate in multidisciplinary IEP Team meetings.
  • Staff & Family

    Coaching:

    Train staff, students, and families on specialized skill acquisition and behavioral reduction procedures.
  • Consultative Support: Act as a behavioral consultant to bridge supports across home and school.
Administrative Communication & Reliability
  • Proactive Reporting: Communicate timely and systematically about major student or behavioral concerns to Student Services Administrator and building leadership.
  • Consistent Attendance: Maintain strict punctuality and consistent daily attendance.
  • District Directives: Perform other duties assigned by Superintendent, Assistant Superintendents, Building Principal, and/or Director of Student Services.
Prerequisite Training and Experience
  • Certification: Active BCBA certification with a valid, verifiable license on the BACB website (Required).
  • Education: Master’s Degree in Applied Behavior Analysis, Special Education, Psychology, or related field (Required).
  • Experience: Minimum of three (3) years as a practicing BCBA in a public school setting (Required).
  • Interpersonal

    Skills:

    Strong interpersonal and communication skills; effective oral and written communication with children, families, and staff.
  • Compliance: Completion of Massachusetts CORI and fingerprint‑based national criminal background check.
Physical Requirements
  • Stamina & Mobility: Significant mobility between classrooms; standing, walking, and the ability to lift or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Communication & Senses: Clear speaking or hearing in person and by telephone.
  • Vision: Close and distance vision, depth perception, color vision, ability to adjust focus across multiple environments.
  • Environment: Possible exposure to high‑stress environments, ultraviolet lights, and hazards of a traditional elementary school building.
