Position OverviewSwampscott High School is seeking a dynamic, knowledgeable, and engaging 0.4 FTE Business Teacher to join our faculty for the 2026–2027 school year. In this part‑time role, your primary function will be to deliver high‑quality, standards‑aligned instruction that equips students with the basic elements of business across multiple career paths.
Guided by the district’s C.O.R.E. values — Community, Opportunity, Respect, and Equity — you will foster a collaborative classroom environment that prepares students to function as responsible, informed citizens in the global business world.
Primary Responsibilities- Core Instruction: Deliver engaging instruction on a comprehensive range of business topics, including accounting, finance, human resources, marketing, entrepreneurship, business law, management, and day‑to‑day business operations.
- Practical Life
Skills:
Teach critical real‑world competencies such as career exploration, personal finance, communication skills, collaboration, and project management. - Project‑Based Learning: Design innovative, real‑world projects and case studies to enhance lectures, challenge students’ critical thinking, and deepen their understanding of business principles.
- Targeted Interventions: Provide individualized academic interventions to ensure every learner succeeds.
- Industry Connections: Stay abreast of current trends, technological shifts, and emerging topics in local and global business sectors to keep course content relevant.
- Collaborative Philosophy: Work with department colleagues to align curriculum and share pedagogical strategies.
- Community Connection: Engage in the broader school community, support school events, and foster a positive school culture.
- Stakeholder Communication: Maintain excellent communication skills when interacting with students, colleagues, administrators, and families.
- Innovation Career Pathways: Ensure curriculum and lessons align with the department’s career pathway program.
- Consistent Attendance: Maintain strict punctuality and consistent attendance for all scheduled classes and departmental commitments.
- Licensure: Valid and appropriate Massachusetts DESE Educator License in Business (9–12) or related instructional field.
- Education: Minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

Skills:
Multilingual educators are highly desired, though not required. - Compliance: Required criminal history background check (CORI/Fingerprinting) and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.
