Overview

Workshop Fitter – Early and late shifts available. Salary: £46,000 – £57,000 basic.

This is a new opportunity for an experienced vehicle engineer who wishes to operate in a high‑quality workshop. The company supports your career journey and provides training on new products and required courses such as IRTEC.

Your working days will be diverse and interesting; no two days will be the same. You may work on main dealer heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) such as hook loaders, municipal vehicles (gritters, dust carts, sweepers) and tippers.

General duties include conducting routine and preventative maintenance, MOT preparation, scheduled servicing to DVSA standards, 6 (or
8) weekly inspections, correction of running defects, chassis and fabrication work, hydraulics and pneumatics work, improvements of vehicle standards, and electrical/wiring inspections and corrections.

Ideally you will be fully qualified (City & Guilds), NVQ or equivalent. Additional accreditations such as IRTEC or EV qualification would be desirable, as would an HGV Class 1 or Class 2 licence.

• Conduct routine and preventative maintenance and inspections on HGVs, municipal vehicles, and related fleet equipment.
• Prepare vehicles for MOT and ensure servicing meets DVSA standards.
• Perform chassis and fabrication work where required.
• Work on hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical systems, and wiring inspections and corrections.
• Identify and correct running defects and contribute to improvements in vehicle standards.
• Collaborate with the workshop team to ensure quality workmanship and timely delivery.

• Additional accreditations such as IRTEC or EV qualification are desirable.
• HGV Class 1 or Class 2 licence desirable.
