Responsibilities
- Maintain, repair and install electrical, mechanical and instrumentation equipment as part of the main MEI teams.
- Fault‑find and rectify problems with electrical systems and ancillary equipment.
- Read, understand and work from electrical drawings and schematic diagrams.
- Actively participate in risk assessment, COSHH assessment and all related health and safety activities.
- Identify plant issues, determine faults, and develop efficient solutions to restore equipment to working order.
- Determine spares and material requirements using preferred suppliers.
- Complete all job cards and timesheets for workload and performance monitoring.
- Provide knowledge, information and on‑site support for Welsh Water capital and operational teams.
- Undertake any other duties required to meet the needs of the business.
- Apply problem‑solving, initiative and decision‑making skills proactively.
- Experience working with pumps and variable‑speed drives.
- Knowledge of industrial processes and fixed/variable speed motor control.
- Ability to read schematic diagrams and repair faults on electrical circuits.
- Solution‑focused approach to resolving problems.
- Strong responsibility‑taking, decision‑making and initiative skills.
- Development of positive working relationships and representation of the team.
- Compliance with BS 7671: 2018 (18th Edition) and IET regulations.
- Excellent understanding of safe working practices and planning and scheduling of work processes.
- Strong communication, influence and critical thinking skills.
