Lab Inspector
Position held within the Inspection department for Vermont Precision Tools, Inc., responsible for final inspection of product produced by Made to Order (MTO) and Made to Stock (MTS) value streams.
Position SummaryA Lab Inspector verifies product conformance to specifications, determines causes of defects, and performs rework. They operate precision measuring equipment, perform calibrations, record inspection data, and maintain safety and ergonomic standards.
Essential Job Functions- Inspect finished product for conformance to specifications such as visual finish, size, and tolerance.
- Analyze any defective product to determine cause for defect.
- Rework defective products by performing machining tasks including roll lapping, facing, chamfering, and cut‑off.
- Access information using internal computer software programs.
- Calibrate various gauges and set up and operate precision measuring equipment.
- Record inspection data in written form or enter data into the computer system.
- Perform proficiency testing for internal and external diameters.
- Learn and understand the required quality procedures and how they apply to ISO
17025 and ISO
9001. - Follow all company policies, ergonomic standards, and safety requirements.
- Perform other duties as required; regular and on‑time attendance is required.

Qualifications- High school education required or equivalent education and experience.
- Ability to read, write, and perform basic mathematical functions in fractions, decimals, metrics, and conversions.
- Basic computer skills with ability to operate in Windows and non‑Windows formats.
- Professional and effective working relationships with co‑workers and other employees at all levels.
- Effective written and oral communication skills to interact with employees at all levels.
Full time, hourly, non‑exempt. Shift differential of 10%; overtime may be required.
