Location: Sweet Home Independent School District

Length of Work Year: 10 Months

Position Summary

Provide students with engaging, standards‑aligned learning experiences that support academic growth and whole‑child development. The teacher fosters a structured, positive classroom environment, builds strong relationships, and uses data‑driven instruction to ensure all students reach their full potential.

Position Requirements
  • Education/Certification: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university;
    Valid Texas teaching certificate (appropriate grade level/subject area)
  • Experience: Teaching, student‑teaching, internship, or related experience preferred
  • Special Knowledge/

    Skills:

    Knowledge of elementary curriculum and instructional best practices; strong classroom management and student engagement strategies; ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs; strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills; ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and staff
Responsibilities and Duties
  • Develop and implement lesson plans aligned to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and district curriculum
  • Deliver engaging, student‑centered instruction that meets the diverse learning needs of all students
  • Differentiate instruction and provide appropriate accommodations to support individual student success
  • Establish and maintain a positive, structured, and safe classroom environment that promotes learning
  • Manage student behavior in accordance with district policies and expectations
  • Assess student progress regularly and use data to inform instructional decisions and interventions
  • Provide timely and meaningful feedback to students to support academic growth
  • Support the academic, social, and emotional development of all students
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and progress
  • Communicate effectively and consistently with students, parents, and staff
  • Participate in parent conferences, ARDs/504 meetings, and campus activities as required
  • Collaborate with colleagues, instructional staff, and administration to improve student outcomes
  • Support and embody the mission and vision of Sweet Home ISD
