Industrial Automation Engineer

PCT - Pacific Cast Technologies seeks an Industrial Automation Engineer to support advanced aluminum investment casting operations in Salem, OR. In this precision manufacturing role, you will design, program, and optimize PLC-based automation, robotics, and motion control systems for furnaces, molding, machining, and material handling. You will troubleshoot equipment issues, analyze process data, and implement improvements to enhance safety, quality, and throughput.

Partner with maintenance, production, and engineering teams to standardize controls, document systems, and support capital projects in a safety-focused, continuous-improvement culture.

Responsibilities

• Design, program, and maintain PLC, HMI, and controls for casting and machining equipment
• Integrate and support robotics, motion control, and automated material handling systems
• Troubleshoot automation and controls issues to minimize downtime and improve reliability
• Analyze process and equipment data to identify and implement productivity and quality improvements
• Collaborate with production, maintenance, and engineering on new equipment and capital projects
• Develop and maintain documentation, standards, and backups for automation systems
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality requirements in all control solutions
• Train maintenance and production personnel on operation and basic troubleshooting of automated systems
