Location: Sweetwater, Texas

Position Type: Exempt (207 days)
Reports To: Accountability, Assessment & Curriculum Director

Sweetwater ISD is seeking a dynamic and experienced instructional leader to serve as the District Coordinator of Reading. This position provides curriculum leadership and supports classroom instruction to ensure an aligned, articulated, and high-quality instructional program in the assigned subject area.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong curriculum expertise, data-driven decision-making skills, and the ability to support and coach teachers and administrators to improve student outcomes.

Education/Certification:

• Master's degree from an accredited university
• Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject assigned
• Principal Certification strongly encouraged

Experience:

• Minimum of five (5) years teaching experience in assigned subject area
• Campus or district leadership experience preferred
• Experience coaching teachers or administrators preferred
• Experience utilizing or supporting high-quality instructional materials
• TTESS appraiser certification preferred

Special Knowledge/

Skills:

• Knowledge of curriculum design and implementation
• Ability to interpret student achievement data and evaluate instructional programs
  
  Experience developing and delivering professional development to adult learners
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

• Collaborate with district leaders and campus principals to develop and supervise instructional programs in assigned subject area
• Coordinate review, development, and revision of curriculum documents, guides, and instructional materials
• Oversee subject‑area testing programs and recommend improvements
• Evaluate program effectiveness using student achievement and other evaluative data
• Support the ordering and use of instructional materials and maintain resource libraries
• Assist with budget development and administration for the assigned area

• Plan and deliver professional development for teachers and administrators
• Share current research and state/national updates in assigned content area
• Observe classroom instruction and provide feedback and coaching
• Model effective instructional strategies in classroom settings
