Georgia‑Pacific Building Products is seeking an Accountant that will provide fiduciary support for multiple manufacturing locations within the Georgia‑Pacific Gypsum business. This self‑directed, results‑oriented accountant will manage month‑end closing, trim the general ledger, collaborate with business partners and drive process improvements.
LocationThis is an onsite role at our plant in Sweetwater, TX;
Cumberland, TN; or Wheatfield, IN. The employee is expected to work in the office at least three days a week and must be local to one of the sites.
- Fiduciary oversight of one to three manufacturing locations, ensuring accuracy of the general ledger through proper accounting treatment.
- Management of month‑end closing process and review.
- Balance‑sheet analysis and income‑statement oversight for site manufacturing operations.
- Contribute to the control environment, ensuring ownership and application of the Internal Financial Controls (IFC) framework.
- Provide ad‑hoc information, support, and analysis to other departments (Operating Management, Centers of Excellence, Tax, Audit, Corporate, etc.).
- Promote innovative ideas to improve accounting workflows.
- Drive transformation by respectfully challenging historical practices and leveraging technology enablers and automation.
- Understand the division and corporate vision and partner with location leadership to ensure alignment.
- Advance the Principle‑Based Management culture by applying and reinforcing the company’s values.
- Travel as needed (10%‑20% depending on geographic location; may include overnight stays).
- Experience in fiduciary accounting, including GAAP, the general ledger, period close process, account reconciliation, and financial statements.
- Collaboration mindset to build working relationships and solve problems.
- Process and transformation focus; flexible and able to prioritize in a dynamic environment.
- Strong communication skills to articulate financial concepts to various audiences.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, SharePoint) and willingness to learn other accounting systems and tools.
- Travel as needed (10%‑20% depending on geographic location; may include overnight stays).
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or Business.
- Solid understanding of costing concepts, operations, financial economics, and manufacturing.
- Experience navigating non‑integrated financial systems and BI reporting platforms.
- Experience with SAP, SAP S4
Hana, Blackline, One Stream. - Manufacturing‑industry experience is a plus.
