The NA Payroll Tax Analyst position is involved in all aspects of U.S. Payroll tax compliance. In this role you are responsible for assisting in the preparation and timely filing of the company’s U.S. federal consolidated returns and state, and local payroll tax returns. Responsibilities also include the preparation and management of the federal/state tax estimate and extension process, developing responses to state and local tax notices, and assisting with federal and state tax audits which will include compiling documentation, reports and analytics.
Full working knowledge of multi-state payroll tax rules and the ability to work independently in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment are essential.
- Research transaction tax issues, investigate employee tax inquiries and respond with appropriate actions.
- Interpret and comply with state, local, and international statutes, regulations, and legislation.
- Prepare for and assist with internal and external tax audits.
- Prepare and/or review indirect tax filings.
- Prepare quarterly tax filings for Puerto Rico Chauffeur’s Tax.
- Provide guidance based on research of new transaction tax laws and regulations.
- Develop and implement process improvements.
- Other payroll‑related responsibilities, such as auditing payroll trials, RSU pre‑funding, workman’s comp audits, and stock purchase program.
- General payroll processing, including auditing, case management, escalated issue handling and payroll file creation/submission.
- Complete year‑end audit of W2 files as well as appropriate W2
Cs and amended returns as necessary. - Assist with processing global mobility employees to ensure accurate tax setups are audited and completed.
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university preferably in accounting or equivalent experience.
- 3‑5 years of payroll accounting/tax experience.
- Extensive experience with payroll tax processing and Federal, State and Local tax laws.
- Strong experience with payroll tax preparation software (ADP/Smart Compliance).
- Ability to communicate with Federal, State and Local taxing authorities.
- High level of technical skills – Advanced MS Excel required.
- Solid reconciliation and analytical skills.
- Strong organizational skills & attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills – both oral and written.
