The Early Childhood Educator is a full-time, on-site role based in Swissvale, PA. This position is responsible for planning and implementing developmentally appropriate lessons and activities that support the cognitive, social-emotional, and physical growth of young children. Day-to-day responsibilities include creating a safe and nurturing classroom environment, engaging children in play-based learning, observing and documenting developmental progress, and collaborating with colleagues to maintain high-quality program standards.
The educator will communicate regularly with parents and guardians, participate in family support initiatives, and follow all licensing, health, and safety regulations. The role also involves maintaining organized classroom materials, contributing to curriculum planning, and participating in ongoing professional development.
- Candidates should possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive, respectful relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
- Candidates should possess knowledge of early childhood development and experience working with children in a classroom or child care setting.
- Candidates should possess creativity skills to design engaging, developmentally appropriate activities and foster a stimulating learning environment.
- Candidates should possess organization skills to manage classroom routines, maintain records, and ensure a safe, well-structured environment.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field is preferred; relevant certifications or coursework are beneficial.
- Understanding of trauma-informed practices, inclusive education, and culturally responsive teaching is advantageous.
- Ability to follow health, safety, and licensing standards, including mandated reporting requirements.
- Willingness to participate in ongoing training, maintain clearances, and work collaboratively in a mission-driven nonprofit setting.
