Director of Resource and Operations DescriptionThe director of resource and operations serves as a trusted strategic partner to the Specialty Services Business Unit (BU) Leader, enabling that individual to operate at his/her highest level of impact. This role is the connective tissue of the business unit – translating leadership’s vision into prioritized, executable initiatives and ensuring that strategic commitments are carried through to completion.
Responsibilities- Serve as a thought partner to the BU Leader – helping to frame key decisions, stress‑test strategic options, and develop perspectives on division priorities.
- Own the prioritization and tracking of strategic initiatives on behalf of business unit leadership, proactively identifying interdependencies, surfacing risks, and driving initiatives to completion.
- Coordinate with the BU Lead and practice MDs on talent‑related priorities, including onboarding and integration of new team members, in collaboration with HR and team leads; keep BU lead apprised of key personnel issues across the division.
- Act as a liaison between BU leadership and firm‑wide functions (including the CRO, CPO, and other Business Unit Leads), facilitating communication, alignment, and execution of cross‑functional priorities.
- Develop and maintain dashboards and reporting tools that provide division leadership with timely visibility into key performance indicators, staffing utilization, capacity, pipeline, and other operational metrics relevant to strategic decision‑making.
- Plan, organize, and facilitate internal business unit meetings, including developing agendas, preparing materials, and ensuring follow‑through on action items.
- Prepare briefing materials, presentations, and strategic memos to support leadership in internal and external engagements, ensuring division leaders are well‑prepared and that key messages are clearly articulated.
- Identify and lead operational improvement initiatives that enhance the effectiveness, scalability, and efficiency of the business unit, partnering with team leaders to move from concept to implementation.
- Support workforce planning and resourcing efforts for the BU in collaboration with team leads, including forecasting staffing requirements and assigning project staffing based on business volume, project timelines, and utilization trends.
- Manage special projects and ad hoc strategic initiatives assigned by the BU Lead, coordinating resources and stakeholders to deliver results within defined timelines.
- Ensure compliance with internal VMG Health policies and procedures and support the division in maintaining high standards of integrity, responsiveness, and excellence in all operational activities.
- Foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement within the division by helping to establish clear goals, tracking progress against strategic objectives, and communicating outcomes to leadership and the broader team.
- Establish strong working relationships with practice MDs, Directors, and other team members.
- Support cross‑functional initiatives that enhance operational effectiveness and collaboration.
- Leverage technology and automation to improve data integrity and reduce administrative workload.
- Maintain a positive attitude and contribute to a collaborative, solutions‑oriented work environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or related field.
- Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) or related discipline; experience in healthcare, professional services, or advisory environments is a plus.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a strategic, advisory, or chief of staff capacity, preferably within a professional services, healthcare, or consulting environment. Demonstrated success supporting senior leaders in executing on strategic priorities, managing complex projects, and driving organizational initiatives from concept to completion.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear, concise materials for senior leadership audiences.
- Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to connect data and insights to business priorities and leadership decision‑making.
- High emotional intelligence and interpersonal effectiveness, with the ability to build trust and credibility with senior leaders, peers, and cross‑functional stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and drive multiple projects simultaneously in a fast‑paced environment, with strong ownership and follow‑through.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (particularly PowerPoint and Excel); familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI) and project management platforms is a plus.
- Demonstrates intellectual curiosity, sound judgment, and a proactive, solutions‑oriented approach to supporting leadership.
