About the JobBased at the Mandarin Oriental Palace, Luzern, within the Sales & Marketing department, the Director of Sales is responsible for leading and overseeing all aspects of the hotel’s sales strategy. This includes managing the sales team, driving revenue growth across all market segments and building strong client relationships.
Responsibilities- Implement the agreed rate structure and strategy for all market segments in partnership with the Director of Commercial Strategy.
- Monitor all sales activities for sales managers, ensuring they meet the goals of the marketing plan and prepare the necessary documentation.
- Analyse and review market changes and implement programs with the sales team to meet these changes.
- Maintain close relationships with all key decision‑makers both in local and international markets.
- Conduct wholesale and corporate negotiations and finalize contracts with tour operators, agents and corporate accounts in your respective markets.
- Work closely with the Regional Sales Offices to ensure that measurable results targets are achieved.
- Analyse and evaluate client production with sales managers and implement sales action plans.
- Attend selected fairs, roadshows and workshops.
- Keep up to date with progress of all projects in the city to ensure capture of all potential business.
- Develop your team and improve employee performance using coaching and feedback, and set performance and development goals for employees.
- Train your team to ensure compliance with regulations as well as our standards.
- Cooperating with the Human Resources Department, select applications and conduct interviews.
- Established education in the hotel industry or a degree in tourism.
- Many years of experience in a similar role in the luxury hotel industry.
- Excellent network at regional, national or international level.
- Effective time management, strong communication and presentation skills.
- Expressiveness, open‑mindedness and the ability to work in a team.
- Outgoing with excellent interpersonal skills for external and internal customers.
- High quality awareness and a flair for trends.
- Strong business sense with the ability to analyze financial statements, sales reports and market data.
- Flexibility and ability to work under pressure – your position will include business travel.
- Very good knowledge of German and English. Further foreign language skills are an advantage.
