- Be accountable for efficiently maintaining the buildings and grounds of the Campus to a standard of health, safety, cleanliness, appearance, physical security and energy efficiency generally associated with a public post-secondary educational institution offering a full schedule of daytime programs and evening courses, with an emphasis on sustainability and valuing our customers and their needs.
- Provide cost-effective and timely facility management and maintenance services that promote our commitment to the care and preservation of the Campus facilities, a safe working environment, and effective risk management to create and maintain a welcoming environment reflecting standards of excellence in support of NSCC programs.
- The office of the Facilities Manager has a consolidated budget under their direct control and are responsible for managing and overseeing and work to ensure that the organization’s costs are maintained and that their financial goals are met. The Facilities Manager has a mix of unionized staff resources consisting of skilled trades, maintenance and custodial along with a complement of casual assistance is required during periods of peak activity for events and summer relief.

Experience:
- The minimum education qualification for this position is a Post-Secondary Degree/Diploma in Facilities Management or Building Sciences such as:
- Architectural or Engineering
- Building Owners & Managers Association (BOMA) /Building Environment Systems (BES)/International Facility Management Association (IFMA)
- Power Engineering - 3rd Class
- Journeyperson Certified Trade:
Plumbing, Electrical, Carpentry, etc. - You have 7-10 years (full-time equivalent) of recent occupational experience in a facilities management role, including construction and maintenance services, building operations and facility administration, which includes 5 years' experience supervising, managing or leading a team.
- Occupational experience that includes project management, Construction Safety Supervisor certification, preventative maintenance, inventory control, energy and systems management would be considered an asset.
- A management credential, certificate in Project Management and Construction Safety Supervisor certification or equivalent would be considered assets.
- You are familiar and comfortable using computer applications such as Microsoft Office 365, CMM systems such as Megamation, Building Automation Control Systems (BAS) along with familiarity with Security and CCTV software, inventory control systems, and are comfortable working in a paperless environment.
- You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology, and you are committed to using technology to create an exceptional student experience.
