Overview
Nova Scotia Health is the largest provider of health services in Nova Scotia. This posting is for a Permanent full-time Industrial Mechanic (UNIFOR Support) in the FMS Plant Maintenance Electrical C department. Reporting to the Maintenance & Operations Assistant Manager, the Industrial Mechanic is responsible for maintaining and repairing physical plant and related mechanical systems equipment while adhering to building, fire, infection prevention and control codes and regulations.
Travel within the zone or other zones may be required.
- Maintain and repair physical plant systems and related mechanical equipment in accordance with codes and regulations (building, fire, infection prevention and control).
- Work with systems such as medical air, medical vacuum, HVAC, control and service air compressors, fire suppression, boiler, hydraulic, pneumatic, reverse osmosis, domestic hot and cold-water circulation, building heating and cooling circulation, physiotherapy pool systems, and laundry equipment (washing, drying, and folding).
- Assist in installation and maintenance of new mechanical systems as required.
- Perform other duties as required within the scope of the Industrial Mechanic role.
- Possibly travel within the zone or to other zones as needed.
- Journeyperson Industrial Mechanic Certification.
- Experience with mechanical systems in maintenance or installation within a similar sized production, industrial, or commercial enterprise.
- Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems.
- Ability to develop solutions to problems using specialized knowledge and/or fundamental principles of the function, service, or technical discipline.
- Adherence to Department of Labour standards.
- Valid driver’s license or access to reliable transportation.
Permanent full-time position; 75 hours biweekly.
Compensation and BenefitsHourly rate: $32.79 - $38.55. Benefits package may include health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
