Receptionist

SYLACAUGA CITY SCHOOLS

Position Description

Reports to:

Principal

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Shall greet visitors, determine their needs, and direct them to the proper personnel.
  • Shall perform all duties as a receptionist: receives and routes all incoming calls, delivers all messages, and follows through with all requests.
  • Shall assist in student medication and first aid, according to school policies, when the nurse is not available.
  • Shall receive and sort daily mail.
  • Shall maintain an orderly office and reception area.
  • Shall maintain office and teacher workroom equipment (copy machines, etc.).
  • Shall maintain appropriate supplies to ensure the smooth operation of the office.
  • Shall have the ability to work well with school personnel, substitute teachers, all non-certificated personnel and the general public.
  • Shall handle student tardies as well as students checking in and out.
  • Shall assist in the daily attendance of students and maintenance of attendance records.
  • Shall assist in supervising student office assistants.
  • Shall update student demographic information (change of address, phone numbers, emergency contacts).
  • Assist any substitute teacher assigned in the absence of the regular teacher.
  • Assist in the office as needed.
  • Shall perform other related duties as requested by the Principal.

    • Qualifications:

    • Clerical experience
    • Strong communication, public relations and organizational skills
    • Excellent typing skills and computer literacy
    • Work Year: 9 months
