Title:

OSR Preschool Instructional Assistant

Reports To:

Principal and Assigned Teacher(s)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Relieves teacher of non-teaching responsibilities.

2. Participates in in-service training programs and required OSR professional development.

3. Alerts the teacher to any problem or special information about an individual student.

4. Assists teacher with restroom, playground activities and field trips.

5. Assists teaching with collecting data on students using GOLD system.

6. Operates and cares for equipment used in classroom instruction and informs principal if equipment is not working properly.

7. Assists teacher with emergency drills.

8. Assists teacher in collecting and distributing books and materials for the classroom.

9. Works with bulletin boards and other classroom displays.

10. Performs other related tasks as assigned.

11. Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of fully licensed teachers.

12. Assists in administering and scoring of assessment and diagnostic tests for individuals and small groups (K-6).

13. Assists any substitute teacher assigned in the absence of the regular teacher.

14. Follows a daily schedule as assigned by teacher(s) and approved by principal.

QUALIFICATIONS:

* A high school diploma or its equivalent

* Either CDA credentials or 9 hours of child development or early childhood coursework

* Must be able to work with youth.

WORK YEAR: 9 months/7.5 hours
