Project Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer

The Project Engineer is responsible for managing capital projects in the Sylacuaga, AL division, contributing to the engineering strategy. Duties include engineering design, planning, cost and benefit analysis, cost tracking, and construction/project management. The role assists in developing the annual budget and project priority plan, defines project scope through detailed studies, and ensures compliance with building codes, regulations, and company safety and quality standards.

• Work closely with Engineering and Operations managers to develop the capital budget for the plants.
• Prepare and submit plant improvement and major maintenance projects from estimating, scheduling, design, cost management, to commissioning, improving plant processes.
• Supervise, train, communicate with, and develop project team members’ operational performance and skills to ensure project completion and commissioning.
• Collaborate with Production and Process Engineering groups to perform process performance testing, develop cost‑reduction projects, equipment improvements, and methods modifications.
• Troubleshoot plant equipment failures and respond to emergencies regarding safety hazards and environmental regulation infractions, ensuring equipment optimization and compliance.
• Develop standards for equipment to enhance reliability, inventory control of critical components, and procurement practices to maintain maximum operating hours.
• Prepare and manage contracts with outside vendors, applying knowledge of environmental regulations as they relate to operations.

• Experience with maintaining process equipment.
• Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills.
• Project management experience in a continuous manufacturing environment.
• Basic computer skills (Google Sheets, Excel, Word, SAP) and basic AutoCAD skills.
• Ability to perform complex mathematical calculations to support engineering principles.

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Structural, or related discipline).
• At least 5 years of experience in a continuous processing manufacturing environment.
• At least 5 years of experience in a lean manufacturing environment.
