Role SummaryThe Sr. Mine Planning Engineer serves as the technical lead and primary bridge between engineering and site operations. You will develop and optimize medium‑range and Life of Mine Plans (LOMP) for industrial minerals across multiple sites, translate complex models into practical operational plans, resolve discrepancies with operations, and act as the designated "Mining Expert" for assigned minerals and locations.
Key Responsibilities Mine Planning & Optimization- Develop clear Life of Mine Plans (LOMP), phasing, sequencing, and schedules based on reserve models and business forecasts.
- Steward reserve information and optimize known reserve potential.
- Reconcile operational data with block models to ensure accuracy.
- Support capital planning, stripping plans, and heavy equipment fleet forecasting.
- Serve as the key link between engineering and site operations, effectively communicating and operationalizing technical models.
- Identify and resolve technical discrepancies with operations and develop actionable plans.
- Build strong cross‑functional relationships across all levels.
- Act as the Mining Expert for assigned industrial minerals and sites.
- Provide technical mentorship and drive continuous improvement across surface and underground operations.
- BS degree in Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field.
- Meets (or ability to meet) requirements of a “Competent Person” under PERC, JORC, or SME standards (highly preferred).
- 5–8+ years in mine planning and optimization supporting mining operations.
- Experience in industrial minerals preferred.
- Hands‑on operations background and project leadership experience highly preferred.
- Proficient in MS Access, MS Excel, GIS, and survey software.
- Strong experience with mine planning software (Surpac or Deswik highly preferred).
- Solid business acumen and technical problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to travel ~30% to US and Mexico sites.
- Comfortable working in office and field environments (surface and underground).
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs and handle drill‑core boxes during site visits.
