Machinist

Southern Alloy is a family-owned steel and alloy foundry. Since 1958, we have proudly operated in Sylacauga, Alabama. We produce custom cast shapes, bushings, wear plates, and industrial parts for heavy industries across the United States.

We need an experienced Manual Machinist to join our machine shop team. You will use manual lathes, milling machines, and other shop tools to finish and size raw metal castings. Your work will turn raw materials into finished, precision parts ready for use.

• Days: Monday through Friday
• Hours: 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM
• Competitive pay commensurate with experience.

• Operate Equipment: Set up and run manual lathes and other conventional machine tools.
• Read Blueprints: Review engineering drawings to figure out exact cuts and shapes.
• Inspect Quality: Measure parts using calipers and micrometers to make sure they fit exact sizes.
• Maintain Equipment: Keep your workspace safe, clean, and organized.

• Several years of experience working as a manual machinist.
• Strong skills in setting up and operating manual lathes.
• Ability to work safely and follow instructions in a busy foundry setting.
