College Success Coach
The JCEC College Success Coach will work closely with the JCEC school counselor and JCEC principal to monitor student progress in college courses and assist in interventions to help ensure successful completion of college coursework. This part‑time position is 28 hours per week, Monday‑Thursday 7:45am‑3:15pm. It is Non‑Exempt and will commence in August 2026, ending with the 26‑27 school year.
Qualifications- Minimum 3 years’ experience in an educational setting preferred.
- Good oral and written communication skills and basic editing skills.
- Basic knowledge of the operations of a community college.
- Proficiency with office equipment and technology (copiers, word processing, spreadsheets) and ability to master new technology.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Demonstrated organizational skills, ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Ability to assess situations, solve problems, and provide structure and support in a classroom setting.
- Maintain a classroom study environment for students assigned to structured study for the purpose of completing ENG 002, online coursework, and/or other coursework requiring a structured study environment.
- Provide individualized support to ensure students stay on track to successfully complete required coursework.
- Assist students in scheduling appointments with the SCC Learning Assistance Center and Writing Center.
- Assist students in developing clear, professional email communication with college instructors as needed.
- Provide mentorship and coaching in the development of personalized study plans for students’ successful completion of goals.
- Attend student support meetings with the JCEC Student Support Team as requested.
- Assist students in successfully navigating college course platforms (Moodle and other selected platforms).
- Assist students in understanding course outlines and syllabi as needed.
- Train and coach students regarding time management and goal setting/achievement.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
