Statement of Primary Purpose
To maintain and support Information Systems on a broad range of architectures. Primarily responsible for assisting in the maintenance of computer hardware and software, printers, fax machines, telephones, portable devices, and other network hardware.
ClassificationTechnical Support, full-time staff, non-exempt
Essential Functions and Responsibilities- Maintain computer network infrastructures including meeting spaces with Google Chromebox for Meetings and related audio/visual components.
- Maintain classroom, lab, and office equipment including computers, printers, and AV equipment.
- Maintain and support lab images including configurations and software updates for all workstations utilizing the Quest KACE system.
- Assist with the physical and virtualized academic computing environment.
- Regularly visit other college campuses and centers to maintain lab and office equipment.
- Assist as needed with the management and maintenance of the college telephone system including desktop telephones, voicemail system, auto attendant, and voicemail.
- Assist as needed with emergency/critical incident telephone software and functionality.
- Assist with the installation and maintenance of college security systems including electronic door controls and security cameras.
- Assist the college’s Network and Infrastructure Manager with the maintenance and installation of network equipment including lab and office switches, wireless equipment, etc.
- Pull network cable and terminate for use within the college infrastructure. (Cat5/6, Fiber, etc.)
- Assist with audio and video support for public and college events which on occasion may require after hours and weekend support.
- Assist users with individual technical support including the use of PC’s, software, portable devices, etc.
- Assist with the procurement and implementation of technology hardware.
- Coordinate the installation of classroom technologies and perform training for faculty.
A.A.S., CIS, CET, EET or IT-related program of study. One year of IT related experience required. Related information technology experience may be substituted year for year for the required education.
Knowledge and SkillsBackground in computer support, printers, mobile devices, audio/visual components, Information Systems/Telecommunication mediums and copper cabling systems.
Physical DemandsClimbing ladders, lifting up to 30lbs
Licensing RequirementValid NC Driver’s license is required
Working Conditions and EnvironmentSome travel is required depending on the demand from supporting off campus sites, work hours include possible overtime with the occasional possibility of working some weekends.
Equipment OperationPC’s Printers, Mobile Devices, Fluke Onetouch Series II, various OS's including Windows 10, MacOS, Xen Desktop, VMware, Active Directory.
