The Toledo Clinic's Psychiatry Practice is seeking a full-time Medical Office Assistant. The hours are Monday-Thursday (8:15am - 3:15pm). There are no weekends or holidays.
This position will handle the day to day administrative office duties such as checking patients in and out, answer phones, schedule appointments, and medication pre-authorizations. Clinical responsibilities are minimal but will include: rooming patients and taking vitals.
Previous experience in a medical office is required.
General Summary
Performs various clerical duties to support the operation of the office. Rooms patients and takes vitals. Works under the supervision of the Physician.
- Consistently arrives at work on time and adheres to regular work schedule.
- Answering phones - courteously and professionally.
- Verifying referrals and/or pre-certifications.
- Process medication pre-authorizations.
- Updating insurance information.
- Answering general patient questions.
- Taking messages accurately and relaying to appropriate personnel.
- Escorting patients to exam room. Takes patient vitals.
- Adheres to all Toledo Clinic policies and procedures.
Other Essential Duties May Include but Are Not Limited To
- Collecting co-pays.
- Preparing and/or submitting charge tickets.
- Preparing and cleaning exam rooms.
- Sorting and filing patient charts.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
Required:
- Consistently arrives at work in appropriate/professional attire.
- Completes all tasks within established time frame.
- Excellent communication, phone, and organizational skills required.
- Seeks appropriate tasks when primary tasks are completed and assists co-workers as needed.
- Demonstrates adaptability to expanded roles.
- Adheres to all Clinic policies and procedures.
Education:
- HS diploma or GED required.
Preferred:
- Previous clerical experience in a medical office.
