Principal and Athletic Director
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES- Demonstrate prompt and regular attendance.
- Monitor and enforce district academic standards and policies; emphasizing academics as a priority for all student athletes.
- Demonstrate proper sportsmanship and respect for players, officials, opponents, opposing coaches, parents and fans.
- Maintain good public relations with media, Booster Club, parents, officials, players, community members, etc.
- Serve as a positive role model for students, coaching staff, and the community.
- Demonstrate knowledge of and ability to implement effective coaching theory, strategies, and techniques appropriate for high school athletes.
- Ability to positively motivate student athletes of varying abilities and backgrounds to instill commitment, discipline, and teamwork.
- Supervise players at all practices, games, in the locker room, on the bus, or any time they are representing the WCHS basketball program.
- Demonstrate knowledge of and ensure program compliance with federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations.
- Demonstrate knowledge of and ensure program compliance with district policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate knowledge of and ensure program compliance with GHSA policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate collegiality in working with other programs, coaches, and student athletes.
- Work cooperatively with the athletic director to staff all basketball coaching vacancies with qualified and motivated individuals.
- Establish and maintain an offseason program.
- Work in the summer, on weekends, and at other allowable times in order to maintain a high quality program, including but not limited to offering off season conditioning, skill training, etc.
- Attend clinics, workshops and other pertinent training programs, as requested by the athletic director, to stay current in basketball strategies and philosophies.
- Work cooperatively with the athletic director in developing game schedules, practice schedules, facility usage requests, transportation needs, and the program budget.
- Follow district procedures to requisition supplies, materials, and equipment as needed.
- Provide game results to the media; keep game and season statistics and records; provide statistical reports to the athletic director as needed and/or as requested.
- Provide statistical information, video, etc. to college recruiters upon request.
- Assume responsibility for inventory, selection, and care of equipment.
- Assume responsibility for proper care of the school facilities.
- Report injuries to the athletic director and administration in a timely manner as per district procedure.
- Build and sustain a successful program that is widely supported and respected by the Worth County School District and community at large.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the curriculum, subject content, pedagogical knowledge and the needs of students by providing relevant learning experiences.
- Exhibit best practice based on current research and facilitates students' use of higher-level thinking skills in instruction.
- Plan, using state and local school district curricula and standards, effective strategies, resources and data to address the differentiated needs of all students.
- Analyze and use student learning data to inform planning.
- Promote student learning by using research-based instructional strategies relevant to the content area to engage students in active learning and to promote key skills.
- Use appropriate instructional technology and a variety of research-based instructional strategies and resources effectively to enhance student learning.
- Exhibit a commitment to professional ethics and the school's mission; participate in professional growth opportunities and contribute to the profession.
- Compile, maintain, and submit all required reports accurately and in a timely manner.
- Carry out duties in accordance with federal and state laws, Code of Ethics for Educators in Georgia, and established state and local school board policies, regulations, and practices.
- Possess and maintain valid and appropriate license, certificate, and/or credential as may be required for this position.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents/guardians, district and school personnel, and other stakeholders in ways that enhance student learning.
