Job DescriptionMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education Level: Bachelor's degree required. Master's Degree preferred.

Valid Georgia teaching certificate meeting PSC requirements in Special Education - Physical
Activities:
Routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities; ability to lift a student up to a weight of 40 pounds without assistance; ability to perform a 2 person lift for student over 40 pounds - Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Written and oral communication; knowledge of areas of disability and special education practices and procedures; specialized instructional strategies that connect the curriculum to the learner; student behavior management; organizational and time management skills, ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, experience working with students in grades 8-12, commitment to promoting equity and inclusion in education.
Principal and Special Education Director PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.
- Completes designated follow-up procedures for students referred for special education service.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the eligibility process and assists with initiation of the process to completion of the eligibility/IEP.
- Implement systems of training, coaching, and support for students with disabilities to ensure they receive research-based, specially-designed instruction tailored to their unique needs.
- Build strong partnerships with parents, school leaders, instructional personnel, and district personnel to advocate for and support students with disabilities.
- Assist students with disabilities in accessing the state-approved general curriculum
- Conduct Manifestation Determination Reviews for students with disabilities
- Provide training, guidance, and support to school personnel to facilitate the implementation of research-based instruction and compliance with IDEA and other relevant laws.
- Collaborate with school and district personnel to support discipline for students with disabilities
- Review all IEPs and support teachers in development and compliance.
- Ensure efficient daily operations to support the education of students with disabilities.
- Work with the Teachers and students to develop quality Transition Plans and support employment opportunities for students with disabilities.
- Coordinate, plan, implement, and evaluate professional development initiatives for assigned personnel.
- Exercise fiscal responsibility in decision-making and assist with the development and review of proposals for outside funding.
- Maintain positive working relationships with administrative management and school staff to support program integration.
- Respond promptly to inquiries or complaints from stakeholders.
- Meets expectations according to the general education teacher and special education teacher job description.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator.
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the Principal or designee.
