This is a full-time on-site position as a Development Project Accountant located in Syosset, NY. The Development Project Accountant will manage financial aspects of real estate development projects, including budgeting, tracking project costs, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting and company standards. The role involves collaborating with the development team, maintaining accurate financial records, and assisting with audits and other financial inquiries.
The accountant will also support invoicing, vendor payments, and reconciliation processes to ensure timely and efficient project operations.
- Strong financial and accounting skills, including budgeting, cost tracking, and reconciliations
- Ability to prepare and analyze financial reports and ensure compliance with accounting standards
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
- Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities to collaborate effectively with diverse project teams
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Previous experience in real estate development or project accounting is a plus
- Familiarity with construction accounting principles and practices is beneficial
- 2+ years of relevant experience at a reputable real estate company handling real estate development and construction projects.
- Preparation of construction draws and bank requisitions.
- Understanding of the month-end and year-end closing process.
- Strong and effective communicator.
- Highly organized and proactive.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Working knowledge of Yardi, Timberline or comparable software is a plus.
