Assistant Controller
We are seeking a detail-driven and strategic Assistant Controller to play a key role in our financial management operations. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between high-level financial strategy and day-to-day accounting operations. You will ensure the accuracy of financial records and streamline processes for corporate accounting, audits, and resource allocation.
Responsibilities Financial Reporting & Close Management- Oversee and streamline the month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Prepare and consolidate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP and FAR.
- Manage day-to-day accounting operations.
- Process payroll and payroll reconciliations.
- Coordinate with external auditors to prepare annual audit schedules and tax documentation.
- Evaluate, update, and implement internal controls to mitigate financial risks.
- Ensure financial records align with federal, state, and local regulatory guidelines.
- Supervise, train, and mentor junior accounting staff.
- Collaborate with the IT and project management teams to optimize the utilization of ERP/accounting software.
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. MBA or Master’s degree is preferred. - Certification:
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) is highly desired. - Experience:
Minimum of 5–7 years of progressively responsible experience in accounting or finance, ideally with exposure to an engineering, manufacturing, or construction environment. - Technical
Skills:
Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency is required. Experience with Deltek (Vision and/or VantagePoint) software is heavily valued. - Soft Skills:
Excellent analytical capabilities, critical thinking, and the ability to communicate complex financial concepts to non-financial engineering managers. Attention to detail and the ability to work independently are desired. - Compensation:
Min: $94,000 - Max: $142,000 (depending on experience and certifications)
