What We Are Looking ForA School Psychologist who is passionate about fostering children’s development and committed to contributing to the inaugural team of this new center-based program. The ideal candidate will have experience working with young children with special needs, a strong commitment to individualized instruction, and the ability to collaborate effectively with an interdisciplinary team sharing common goals. Strong knowledge and experience with behavior management techniques and strategies a must.
Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive psychological evaluations of preschool children in accordance with NYS Education Law Section 4420 and program regulations.
- Administer standardized and non-standardized assessments including cognitive, socio‑emotional and developmental measures.
- Provide consultation and guidance to staff and parents regarding strategies to support children’s developmental and behavioral needs.
- Maintain accurate documentation, assessment reports, and progress notes in compliance with state and program requirements.
- Participate as an active member of the Committee on Preschool Education (CPSE) providing recommendations for IEP development.
- Collaborate with a multi‑disciplinary team including special education teacher, speech therapist, occupational therapist, social worker, and BCBA.
- New York State Certification‑School Psychologist or New York State License as a Psychologist.
- Strong knowledge of preschool developmental milestones and Special Education Law 4410.
- Experience in conducting evaluations for children with disabilities including autism spectrum disorder, developmental delays, and other learning or behavioral needs.
- Knowledge of behavioral and social emotional interventions and the ability to consult and support teachers and families in the execution of them.
