Variety Child Learning Center (VCLC) is a 4410 not-for-profit agency providing quality educational and therapeutic services to young children with disabilities. We are actively recruiting candidates for the Education Coordinator position.
Essential Functions- Provide instructional leadership, supervision, and ongoing support to teachers, teaching assistants, and teacher aides.
- Oversee classroom programming to ensure instruction is individualized, developmentally appropriate, and aligned with student IEP goals.
- Lead and support the implementation of curriculum, classroom management systems, instructional practices, and positive behavior supports.
- Ensure classroom practices are consistent with NYS Prekindergarten Learning Standards, Early Learning Guidelines, and the Pyramid Model. Knowledge of the STAR Program curriculum is preferred.
- Promote safe, structured, and therapeutic classroom environments that support student learning, engagement, and regulation.
- Collaborate with school leadership, related service providers, and classroom teams to ensure consistent, high-quality educational programming.
- Conduct classroom observations, provide staff coaching, and support professional growth and problem‑solving.
- Help ensure compliance with agency, state, and regulatory requirements related to classroom instruction and educational programming.
- Provide classroom and building support as assigned, including transitions, staffing coverage, lunch and bus duty.
- School Building Leader (SBL) certification required; & master’s degree in special education (preferred)
- NYS Students with Disabilities – Birth–Grade 2, All Grades, or NYS Special Education Certification
- Minimum of 3 years of Special Education classroom experience
- Strong leadership, communication, and staff support skills
- Experience working with preschool students with disabilities preferred

Work EnvironmentThis job operates in a school environment. Activities usually take place in classrooms, hallways, the gym, outside on the playground, or in special activity rooms. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, iPads, printers/fax/scanner, telephone, and shredder.
Physical DemandsThis role may be physically demanding. The employee is required to be non-sedentary. Must be able to stand, walk, sit, bend, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and move throughout the school environment. The employee may need to lift and/or assist an average preschool-aged child (35 pounds) and school-age child (50 pounds), as needed.
