Medical Director, Wellness

Total Wellness Medical Services, LLC is seeking a highly skilled and engaged Medical Director to lead our growing functional health practice. This role is ideal for a physician who thrives in a start-up, entrepreneurial environment and is passionate about delivering innovative, patient-centered care.

The Medical Director will perform and oversee clinical operations, provide medical leadership, and ensure the highest standards of patient safety, regulatory compliance, and clinical excellence. This position plays a critical role in shaping protocols, mentoring staff, and supporting the long-term vision of a practice dedicated to improving how patients feel, function, and live.

Provide medical leadership in a start-up, entrepreneurial clinical environment. Deliver clinical oversight and ensure compliance with FDA regulations, HIPAA, and all applicable healthcare standards. Develop, implement, and oversee patient care protocols to optimize clinical outcomes. Review patient charts onsite and provide clinical guidance regarding patient care decisions. Oversee utilization management, quality assurance, and patient safety initiatives. Manage and support accurate medical documentation and EMR/EHR systems.

Lead, supervise, and mentor clinical staff, when applicable. Participate in hiring, onboarding, and ongoing medical training. Stay current with industry trends, regulatory updates, and advancements in functional health and clinical research. Assist in evaluating and selecting appropriate medical vendors and partners. Collaborate with leadership on clinical development and operational strategy

MD or DO from an accredited medical school. Active New York State medical license in good standing. Minimum 2 years of experience in functional health medicine. Proven leadership or supervisory experience in a healthcare setting. Strong comfort working in a start-up or growth-oriented environment. Extensive knowledge of managed care systems, EMR/EHR platforms, FDA regulations, and HIPAA compliance. Strong foundation in physiology, anatomy, and clinical research relevant to functional medicine.

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a Practice Manager and/or Business Development leadership. Excellent communication, leadership, and strategic thinking skills. Commitment to patient-centered care and clinical excellence.
