Job Description
Position SummaryThe Field IT Technician provides technical support for Pay‑O‑Matic computer hardware, software and network systems across multiple retail locations and corporate headquarters. This position requires extensive travel to stores throughout the region to perform installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of technology equipment and systems.
Essential Functions and ResponsibilitiesTechnical Support and Maintenance
- Install, modify, monitor, test and troubleshoot computer hardware, software and network problems at Pay‑O‑Matic retail locations and corporate headquarters.
- Provide on‑site technical support for maintaining, installing or replacing equipment in stores.
- Perform software and hardware upgrades and rollouts as directed by IT Help Desk Manager.
- Prepare and tag new equipment for deployment to field locations.
- Enter troubleshooting calls into the help desk system (Service
PRO).
Field Service Requirements
- Travel regularly to retail store locations to perform repairs, installations and troubleshooting (majority of work time spent in the field).
- Maintain a valid driver’s license and provide reliable transportation for travel to store locations.
- Lift and transport electronic equipment including computers, monitors and related technology.
- Respond to on‑site service requests in a timely manner.
Additional Duties
- Complete special projects assigned by IT Help Desk Manager.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Required Experience and Skills
- Minimum one year of related IT support experience.
- Valid New York State driver’s license.
- Access to reliable personal vehicle for business travel.
- Ability to lift and carry electronic equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Strong technical knowledge of computer hardware, software and network systems.
- Proficiency with Windows operating systems and common business software applications.

- Ability to communicate technical information clearly to non‑technical users.

- Bilingual skills (Spanish) are a plus but not required.

- Lift, carry and transport electronic equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Bend, stoop, kneel and reach to install or service equipment.
- Stand or sit for extended periods while performing technical work.
- Use hands and fingers to manipulate small components and tools.
- Maintain visual awareness to work with computer screens and technical equipment.
The primary work site is the corporate office. However, this position requires frequent travel to retail locations throughout the region. Work may be performed in various store environments with varying conditions. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to minimize disruption to store operations.
Compensation and BenefitsMileage Reimbursement:
Employees who use personal vehicles for business travel will be reimbursed at the standard IRS mileage rate. Reimbursement will be processed in accordance with Pay‑O‑Matic travel expense policies.
Classification:
This position is classified as non‑exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is eligible for overtime compensation for all hours worked over 40 in a workweek.
