Remote Accounts Payable Position

Chris Preble from Robert Half is working with a Syracuse client of his that is looking to hire a remote Accounts Payable person to their accounting department. This organization has a 401k match, great work life balance and excellent benefits.

This remote AP role is responsible for ensuring vendor invoices are reviewed, processed, and paid accurately and on schedule while maintaining the integrity of financial records. The ideal candidate is highly organized, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and enjoys collaborating across departments to support efficient financial operations.

Responsibilities include:

• Review, verify, and process vendor invoices for accuracy, coding, approvals, and supporting documentation.
• Manage the full accounts payable cycle for multiple vendors while ensuring compliance with company policies and internal controls.
• Prepare and process electronic payments, ACH transactions, wire transfers, and check runs in accordance with payment schedules.
• Reconcile vendor statements, investigate discrepancies, and resolve invoice or payment issues in a timely manner.
• Maintain accurate vendor records, including onboarding new vendors and updating existing information.
• Partner with internal departments to resolve purchasing, receiving, and invoice-related questions.
• Assist with month-end close by preparing accruals, reconciliations, and AP reporting.
• Recommend process improvements that enhance efficiency, strengthen internal controls, and improve the overall procure-to-pay process.
• Support audits by providing documentation and responding to information requests.
• Generate reports and perform ad hoc analysis related to vendor activity, spending trends, and accounts payable performance.
