Build the Business That Builds the ProjectsSyracuse Construction is seeking an experienced Construction Accounting & Billing Manager to become a key member of our leadership team.
This is far more than a traditional accounting position. You will serve as the financial hub connecting ownership, project managers, customers, subcontractors, vendors, financial institutions, and our CPA.
Your work will directly influence cash flow, project profitability, operational decisions, and the continued growth of the company.

Position OverviewThe Construction Accounting & Billing Manager will oversee the company’s day-to-day financial operations while supporting ownership with timely reporting, cash-flow planning, project billing, job-cost analysis, and strategic decision-making.
You will help ensure that projects are billed accurately, vendors and subcontractors are paid appropriately, receivables are actively managed, and leadership has the financial information needed to make sound decisions.
Primary Responsibilities Construction Billing and Accounts Receivable- Prepare customer invoices and progress billings
- Prepare AIA pay applications
- Maintain schedules of values
- Track retainage and lien waivers
- Process approved change orders
- Improve billing turnaround time
- Review and process vendor invoices
- Coordinate subcontractor payments
- Match invoices with purchase orders and project budgets
- Maintain vendor and subcontractor records
- Process credit applications
- Track certificates of insurance
- Support accurate and timely payment processing
- Monitor company cash flow and bank balances
- Complete bank and account reconciliations
- Maintain accurate project job-cost information
- Prepare monthly financial reports
- Develop work-in-progress reporting
- Analyze project costs and profitability
- Assist with pricing and margin reviews
- Support cash-flow forecasting
- Coordinate with the company’s CPA
- Provide payroll support as needed
- Meet regularly with ownership
- Coordinate with project managers regarding billing, budgets, and change orders
- Develop efficient accounting procedures
- Identify opportunities to strengthen reporting and technology
- Build scalable systems that support company growth
- Maintain confidentiality, accuracy, and professionalism
During your first year, you will help Syracuse Construction:
- Develop more accurate cash-flow forecasts
- Accelerate project billing
- Improve project-cost visibility
- Strengthen work-in-progress reporting
- Improve project profitability analysis
- Build scalable financial systems
- Strengthen relationships with customers, vendors, subcontractors, and our CPA

QualificationsThe strongest candidates will offer:
- Construction accounting or project-cost accounting experience
- Proficiency with Quick Books Enterprise
- Experience with AIA billing and pay applications
- Knowledge of schedules of values, retainage, and lien waivers
- Strong Microsoft Excel and Microsoft 365 skills
- Experience with accounts receivable and accounts payable
- Understanding of construction job costing
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent organization and attention to detail
- Professional written and verbal communication
- The ability to coordinate effectively with project managers and ownership
- A leadership mindset and commitment to continuous improvement
