Accounting Specialist

We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounting Specialist to provide project-based support for a financial services organization in Syracuse, New York. This long-term contract position is ideal for someone who can manage high-volume accounting tasks with accuracy while working independently on reconciliations and transaction review. The role will contribute to day-to-day accounting operations by maintaining records, investigating discrepancies, and supporting timely financial processing.

Responsibilities:

• Process accounting transactions and enter financial data accurately into internal records and systems.
• Perform reconciliations for general ledger accounts and bank activity, identifying and resolving variances in a timely manner.
• Review historical ledger entries to investigate outstanding items and document findings clearly.
• Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, and billing activities to help maintain efficient accounting operations.
• Prepare and organize reconciliation support, account details, and other financial documentation for internal review.
• Use Microsoft Excel to analyze account activity, track discrepancies, and complete routine reporting tasks.
• Assist with ongoing accounting projects that require careful follow-up, accuracy, and consistent record maintenance.
