Location: City of Syracuse

Position Summary

The receptionist is responsible for supporting office operations and works independently and interdependently with other office staff to provide efficient, cost‑effective, quality patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Promote a healthy work environment.
  • Work collaboratively with the CNY Family Group.
  • Review CCDs for the CNY Family Group and route to appropriate team members.
  • Collaborate and communicate regularly with management regarding goals, needs, and concerns.
  • Provide phone support – incoming and outgoing calls.
  • Scan and fax documentation.
  • Perform critical job functions that streamline and improve patient experience.
  • Maintain accurate schedules based on provider preference sheets and office standards.
  • Meet performance measures and complete tasks by established review dates.
  • Work collaboratively with staff and management.
Communication & Customer Service
  • Maintain confidentiality related to patients, family, employees, and the service area.
  • Answer telephone calls and route to the proper person; record and deliver messages when personnel are unavailable.
  • Use appropriate diction and grammar in all communications.
  • Employ professional manners and tact in all dealings.
  • Obtain necessary information while remaining courteous and calm during interruptions.
  • Provide customer‑service oriented support.
  • Adhere to hospital confidentiality statement.
Service Specific Skills
  • Receive and distribute messages, packages, and supplies to the appropriate person or place.
  • Implement day‑to‑day operations of the specific service or environment.
  • Maintain a safe and secure environment.
Equipment
  • Demonstrate competency in using PC terminals, telephones, copier, e‑mail system, and fax machine.
Education & Experience

High school graduate or equivalent; business school or formal secretarial training a plus. One to two years’ experience preferred. Participate in orientation, continuing education, and maintain knowledge and skills related to specific areas of expertise.

Additional Requirements
  • Multi‑line telephones, PC and appropriate software knowledge, knowledge of office equipment and supplies.
  • Solid understanding of service‑related terminology.
  • Good oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Customer service oriented.
Work Environment and Physical Demands

Office setting – exposure Class I or II; service specific. Light work: standing, walking, sitting, and lifting.

Compensation

Pay range: $19.00 – $26.85 per hour. Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Positions are exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates.
