Position SummaryPerforms all Unit Clerk duties including, but not limited to: typing and PC applications, filing, business machine functions, telephone and written communications, and assists in the facilitation of quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Typing and PC applications.
- Filing and business machine functions.
- Telephone and written communications.
- Assists in the facilitation of quality patient care.
- Maintains files in a timely and organized fashion.
- Drafts memos and other correspondence as instructed.
- Answers the telephone and routes calls; records messages when unavailable.
- Greets visitors and ensures a comfortable waiting environment.
- Sorts and distributes departmental mail.
- Arrives at job, appointments, and meetings on time; dressed in hospital-approved attire.
- Presents self in a professional manner (neat, clean, appropriately dressed).
- Works to the best of his/her ability; flexible and adaptable to change.
- Follows rules, policies and directives, seeks clarification as needed.
- Exhibits commitment to teamwork, follows instructions, completes tasks timely and efficiently.
- Interacts with others in a positive, friendly manner.
- Projects a positive image of self and hospital.
- Adheres to organizational rules outlined in the employee handbook.
- Adheres to hospital confidentiality statement.
- Complies with expectations and duties established by each clinical unit/division in support of clinical staff and patients.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Business school or formal secretarial training preferred.
- One to two years’ minimum experience required.
- PC and appropriate software knowledge.
- Knowledge of office equipment and supplies.
- Solid understanding of department‑related terminology.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Customer service oriented.
Exposure Class I or II; possible exposure to blood, body fluids, excretions or secretions. Limited exposure to conditions that could cause serious illness or injury.
Physical DemandsLight to Medium work (depending on unit assignment).

Pay Range$18.25 - $22.00 depending on experience and location.
