Job Summary:

Upstate is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Administrative Assistant I to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will play a key part in providing secretarial, administrative, and office clerical support in an Ambulatory Care setting for the Pediatrics-GI Clinic Team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Patient registration in Epic, patient check‑in and check‑out.
  • Obtaining insurance cards, signatures on consent forms, and co‑pay collection.
  • Case scheduling which includes coordination of provider schedules.
  • Obtaining insurance authorizations, completing pre‑surgical paperwork and consents, and entering data into multiple scheduling systems.
  • Scheduling ancillary tests and procedures for patients.
  • Answering clinic phones, identifying, sorting, and filing incoming chart documentation.
  • Communicating effectively to transfer information as well as complete a variety of tasks within a given timeframe while maintaining patient confidentiality.
  • New patient intake per department guidelines.
  • Miscellaneous duties including mail and fax distribution and other clerical duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:

Three years of secretarial/administrative experience or an associate’s degree and one year of experience required, or a combination of education and experience.

Excellent organizational skills, computer skills, and strong customer service skills required.

Preferred Qualifications:

One year of administrative experience in a medical practice setting preferred.

Scheduling and patient registration experience preferred.

Candidates with outpatient experience preferred.

Medical records computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology desirable.

Work Days:

Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm
