Position: Urology Administrative Assistant I
Location: City of Syracuse

Job Summary

Upstate Urology is seeking a highly organized and detail‑oriented Administrative Assistant I to join our dynamic team. In this role you will play a key part in providing secretarial, administrative, and office management support in an ambulatory care setting.

Responsibilities
  • Patient registration including check‑in, obtaining insurance cards, and signing consent forms.
  • New patient referrals, scheduling and rescheduling appointments, and scheduling ancillary testing.
  • Co‑pay collection and obtaining insurance authorizations for ordered testing.
  • Answering phones, routing calls, accurately taking and forwarding messages.
  • Mail and fax distribution and other clerical duties as requested.
  • Learn and support OR case scheduling, coordinating provider schedules, obtaining insurance authorizations, and assisting with pre‑surgical paperwork.
  • May require secretarial/office skills such as transcription or dictation.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Three years of secretarial/administrative experience, or an associate’s degree and one year of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent organizational and computer skills and strong customer service skills.
  • Experience with front desk reception, multi‑line phone system, fax, and scanning devices.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Specialty medical office front‑desk experience.
  • Knowledge and use of the EPIC electronic medical record system.
  • Experience with insurance authorization processes for specialty services, procedures, and treatments.
  • Experience registering and discharging patients and knowledge of medical terminology.
Work Days

Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm
