Senior Inspector, N-III/N-II in Syracuse area Job Summary

SCOPE:
Provide Construction Quality Assurance Services for the I-81 Viaduct project’s Design Build contracts, Phase I. The scope includes improving the new section of I‑81 (former I‑481) between I‑690 and the New York State Thruway, reconstructing and widening the section between Interchange 8 (Northern Boulevard) and Interchange 9, reconstructing the existing I‑81/I‑481 northern and southern interchanges, and improving Interchange 3 (Dewitt/Fayetteville) including the Lyndon Corners intersection.

• Must possess and maintain a valid NICET Level III certification in Transportation/Highway Construction, or an equivalent degree.
• At least 5 years of experience as an Inspector with agency experience such as NYSDOT or NYS Thruway.
• ACI Grade I Certification.
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
• Detail oriented, capable of multitasking, proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, and ability to learn project‑specific software as needed.

• Inspect all construction materials to ensure compliance with the Plans and Specifications.
• Inspect all construction activities to ensure quality of workmanship.
• Maintain daily records of the number and classification of workers employed by the Contractors using the Authority’s Site Manager & EBO.
• Prepare daily reports of all construction and engineering field work using the Authority’s Site Manager & EBO.
• Prepare and forward weekly quantity summaries for each contract item.
• Maintain records of running totals of quantities and costs during construction.
• Maintain daily records of the type and size of equipment used on all construction operations.
• Review traffic protection procedures.
• Review and coordinate submittals as required per the Plans and Specifications.
• Attend meetings or conferences as directed by the Authority.
• Perform tests required to ensure material compliance with the Plans and Specifications.
