Position Overview

The Safety Manager will serve as the lead safety professional for the CNY C6 Project, providing overall leadership, oversight, and direction for project safety. This individual will work closely with project leadership, field supervision, employees, subcontractors, and the project safety team to ensure safe work practices are incorporated into daily operations.

This position requires a hands‑on leader who can take ownership of the project's safety program, develop and mentor others, provide effective training, and build a strong culture of safety and accountability throughout the project. The Safety Manager will maintain a visible field presence and proactively identify risks, address concerns, and drive continuous improvement.

Responsibilities
  • Provide overall leadership, oversight, and direction for safety across the CNY C6 Project.
  • Lead, develop, and mentor project safety personnel while establishing clear expectations and accountability.
  • Partner with project leadership, superintendents, foremen, and field teams to incorporate safety into daily planning and project operations.
  • Promote and maintain a strong safety culture focused on leadership, accountability, employee engagement, and proactive risk prevention.
  • Monitor compliance with project safety requirements through field observations, site inspections, audits, toolbox talks, and regular interaction with field personnel.
  • Develop, coordinate, and deliver safety training for employees, supervisors, and project leadership based on project needs and field operations.
  • Mentor supervisors and field personnel on hazard recognition, safe work practices, and their responsibility for maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Plan and implement safety policies, procedures, and risk‑management practices in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local requirements, including OSHA standards.
  • Conduct and coordinate safety audits and assessments to identify hazards, trends, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Work directly with project teams to develop corrective actions and ensure identified safety concerns are addressed appropriately and in a timely manner.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses; identify contributing factors and root causes; develop preventive measures; and communicate findings to project leadership.
  • Coordinate safety requirements and expectations with subcontractors and other project partners to maintain consistency across the project.
  • Lead project safety meetings, stand‑downs, training initiatives, and other safety‑related activities as necessary.
  • Review and maintain employee safety training records and other required safety documentation to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Track project safety performance, identify trends, and provide regular safety updates and recommendations to project leadership.
  • Foster strong working relationships with project management, field supervision, employees, subcontractors, and leadership to encourage open communication and continuous safety improvement.
  • Serve as a resource and coach to project personnel, helping develop safety leadership throughout all levels of the project.
  • Maintain a strong field presence and demonstrate the ability to step in, lead, and make sound safety decisions when conditions require immediate action.
Experience/Education

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Safety Management, Occupational Safety and Health, Construction Management, or related field preferred. Minimum of 5 years of experience in safety leadership or management capacity. OSHA 500 required. Equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience will be considered.

Required Skills
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, MSHA, and DOT laws, regulations and policies.
