Clerical, Office Administrator/ Coordinator
Location: City of Syracuse
Job Summary:
Schedule based on a 40-hour work week. Must be available to work Monday-Friday, between the hours of 8:00am-5:30pm. Duties include but are not limited to: manage all front‑end processes, obtain insurance authorizations for all routine and complex PM&R services; interact with patients, Upstate departments, outside physician offices and insurance carriers to resolve authorization issues; activate registrations; coordinate and obtain all appropriate paperwork for billing and compliance.
Assist with the front desk area to schedule follow‑up appointments, scan chart information and answer phones. Will flex between sites as needed for coverage including call center. May work on special projects to assist the business manager as needed. Working knowledge of various insurance authorization policies and procedures preferred; ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast‑paced environment and excellent customer service skills necessary.
The NYS Department of Civil Service has developed the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement (HELP) Program. During this program, the NYS Civil Service Exam requirements are suspended for the Hospital Patient Services Clerk 2 title.
- NYS Department of Civil Service eligible list or eligible for transfer.
- Promotional: you must be a qualified employee of the State University of New York and have had one year of permanent competitive or 55‑b/55‑c service as a Hospital Patient Services Clerk 1 or as a Nursing Station Clerk 1.
- Open Competitive (Non‑competitive, NY HELPS)
Qualifications:
two years of full‑time clerical experience in a health‑care setting; or two years of full‑time secretarial experience in a health‑care setting; or two years of full‑time patient‑care experience in a health‑care setting.
