Position Summary
Responsible for providing comprehensive oral hygiene care to dental patients including the cleaning of teeth and gums as well as other applicable accepted procedures; communicates to patients, information relevant to the care of teeth and oral cavity; including appropriate dietary information; may assist dentist during specific procedures on patients; may take and develop x-rays, may also participate in dental training.
Education and ExperienceGraduation from a two-year Dental Hygiene program. Current New York State license is required. Must also have current BLS and infection control certifications.
Physical DemandsAmbulatory – 95%
Sedentary – 5%
Subject to stress and fatigue.
Requires manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination when working with patients and equipment.
Subject to repeated bending, squatting and stooping.
Requires corrected vision and hearing within normal range.
