Job Description: The Language Support Coordinator provides hybrid support across Testing Services and the English Language Institute (ELI) to ensure equitable, compliant, and efficient academic testing and language-access services for students. This position coordinates daily testing operations, including ADA and ELL accommodations, proctoring logistics, digital exam workflows, and faculty communication, while also delivering direct language support to multilingual learners. The coordinator will help students navigate placement, testing preparation, and early academic transition, and will serve as a central point of communication among instructors, staff, interpreters, and campus partners.
MajorResponsibilities
Testing Services Operations
- Assist with coordination of daily testing schedules, including accommodated testing requiring extended time, reduced distraction spaces, and specialized room assignments.
- Coordinate interpreting services for Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) students, ensuring compliance with ADA and Section 504 by maintaining timely, accurate communication access across testing, classroom, and orientation settings.
- Manage digital exam handling, including intake, formatting, secure delivery, scanning, and return to faculty.
- Ensure accurate processing of ADA/ELL accommodations and appropriate proctoring oversight.
- Maintain communication with faculty regarding test window requirements, exam uploads, and accommodation logistics.
- Help during high-volume exam periods and assist with proctoring, scheduling, adjust staffing, room usage, and scheduling workflows to maintain service quality and compliance.
- Uphold testing integrity and security protocols, ensuring accurate documentation, chain-of-custody processes, and compliance reporting.
- Complete duties and tasks as assigned.
Language Support & ELI Integration
- Provide walk-in academic and language support for multilingual learners, including reading comprehension, writing assistance, vocabulary development, and assignment navigation.
- Support ELI instructors with student progress updates, placement guidance, and coordination of tutoring or supplemental instruction.
- Assist students in understanding placement test results, transition steps into credit-bearing coursework, and available academic resources.
- Develop basic language-support workshops or mini-sessions aligned with ELI instructional goals.
- Maintain strong communication with ELI faculty and department leadership to coordinate services, track needs, and ensure consistency.
Compliance & Accessibility
- Oversee ADA, Title VI, and Section 504 language-access compliance within Testing Services and ELI-related processes.
- Coordinate interpreting services for Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) students, including class coverage, testing appointments, and orientation events.
- Maintain documentation needed for audits, reporting, and institutional accountability.
Operational Efficiency & Campus Collaboration
- Strengthen workflows that reduce faculty administrative burden and increase consistency in testing procedures.
- Support new staff, student workers, and proctors through training in testing procedures, accommodation policies, and communication standards.
- Serve as a liaison to faculty, OAR, ELI, Student Success, Advising, and campus departments to ensure coordinated student support.
- Track weekly testing volume, ELL utilization trends, and operational metrics to inform planning and staffing.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college, university or foreign equivalency in Education, Applied Linguistics, TESOL, English, Social Sciences, Student Affairs, or a related field.
- Experience supporting multilingual learners, English Language Learners (ELL), or adult learners in an educational setting.
- Demonstrated understanding of ADA, Section 504, and Title VI language-access requirements.
