Onondaga Community College, located in Syracuse, NY, is a college of the State University of New York (SUNY) system and one of 30 locally sponsored community colleges throughout New York State. Onondaga County is our sponsor. We offer two-year degree programs that serve as transfer opportunities to baccalaureate degree programs at four-year campuses or for direct entry to the workforce. Student Ambassadors are part of the Admissions who represent OCC at campus events.
The main role of Student Ambassadors is to conduct campus tours for prospective students, family and community members. They may also assist the Office of Student Recruitment by participating in student panels, meeting with visitors to provide a student perspective, and networking to help the community understand all that OCC has to offer. Additionally, Ambassadors may work in the office to assist with event preparation, office tasks, and assisting the Student Recruitment Staff with various projects.
Students sign up for shifts when they are available and schedules are flexible to accommodate classes and schoolwork.
Shifts are typically one to three hours in length with Open Houses being a full day (once a semester).
Qualifications- Must have a financial need, as demonstrated by the FAFSA
- Must be matriculated into a program
- Attending at least half-time (6 credit hours)
- Maintain satisfactory progress (SAP) towards the completion of their program
- Must be a currently enrolled student in good academic standing (2.0 GPA minimum)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Professional, approachable, and friendly demeanor
- Availability to attend training sessions and scheduled events
- Willingness to work evenings or weekends as needed for special programs
- Availability for Fall and Spring Open House
- Pay Rate: Starting rate of $15.50 for new Federal Work Studies.
- Hours of Operations: Monday-Friday 8:30am- 4:30pm
Starting rate of $16.75 for returning Federal Work Studies

Federal Work Study may work up to 20 hours per week while classes are in session.
