Research focus can range from gene to ecosystem scales and include, but not limited to, functional genomic, behavioral, physiological, and computational approaches, as well as acoustic and satellite remote sensing and field experiments. Research areas of particular interest include those that fall within the broadly defined area of global change biology as it influences organismal biology or ecosystems. The successful candidate is expected to develop a rigorous externally funded research program, participate in graduate and undergraduate teaching, and mentoring in the areas of their expertise.
The research environment at Syracuse University is highly collaborative both within and between departments, research centers, and institutes. In particular, faculty benefit from interactions with the Bio Inspired Institute and the strong research and educational ties with the adjacent State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry. The successful candidate will establish their research lab in the Biology Department, housed in the world-class Life Sciences Complex.

* Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Ecology, Evolution, or a related field with an outstanding record of research.

* Teaching two courses per year (1:1 load), research, and service.
* Complementing and building on existing research strengths in the Department of Biology which span a diversity of scales and systems.
* Developing a rigorous externally funded research program, participate in graduate and undergraduate teaching, and mentoring in the areas of their expertise.
